Indieket 2016 Book Roster

It's been a year...

Well it's gonna be my anniversary soon. :D I first started selling my original comic books last year at the Pinoy Indieket, which is a convention for new and upcoming indie comic book artists and writers.

I was invited by another comic book artist named Manix Abrera after I got him to sign my sketchbook. And I figured, how could refuse such a gracious offer?

I'm glad I took the shot and I've been trying to sell more of my books ever since.

So without further digressions, I present my 2016 Indieket Line-up!

1. Anarchy Inc. #1 15 copies

Bale city has more than it's fair share of people with special abilities and choose to defy the strict laws in its enforcement. For whatever reasons they choose these people have been branded as wanted criminals and are named "Anarchists".

2. Welcome to the BPO! #1 and #2  15 copies each.

A collection of strips poking fun about the ups and downs at working for a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Company like call centers.

3. The Chibi Collection of 2 Sentence Horror Stories. 15 copies

A spine chilling yet adorable collection of Horror Stories with chibi illustrations.

4. Anarchy Inc. Sillies #1 and #2 (2nd Edition) 10 copies each. (Covers to be Edited)

Another collection of funny Comic Strips featuring some of the characters in Anarchy Inc.

5. Animal Warfare (2nd Edition) 10 copies

Aliens have brainwashed the human race as they invade planet earth. It's up to the pets to save their human companions and rid the world of this alien menace.

6. Point Break Mall #1  (2nd Edition) 10 copies

Pez is the new security officer at Point Break Mall. He quickly discovers that the mall is riddled with many strange and bizarre enchantments. It's up to him and his partner Tik to keep order among the mall denizens and customers.

So I'll be trying to finish the other comics as much as I can but for sure I'll be having these books printed to be sold by next month.

Til then, Have a good one!

Avatars and Learning

Make it til you make it :D

Whew... I get stuck a lot in the middle of my creation process. I may have finished the Welcome to the BPO #2 but I can't seem to get past page 1 of my next Anarchy Inc. I keep wanting it to be better so I took some time to watch and rewatch some of my favorite tutorials in youtube. Thank goodness for the internet.

So a quick shoutout to my favorite art tutorial channels: Drawing with Jazza (He's Jazza!) and Will Terrell. I recommend you guys check out their channels cuz their work always makes me super excited to draw.

You get stuck wanting to redo everything all the time but I've decided to just keep moving forward with my work. I still love to learn how to do things but can't get bogged down trying to fix past mistakes. Just have to make the next one better.

So here's some new artworks for the next steps. :)

My Light and Dark Avatars for our Eventual Empire Banner :D Yes the beard can get out of hand at times.

Drew Pez from Point Break Mall in a more manic comic book style. Might stick with the original style for the book.

Trying out some animation with some rough sketching :))

Anywho Here's to hoping I get Anarchy Inc. #2 out by Indieket next August T_T My brain hurts now :) See you next time.

Trudge Trudge

Draw like your the wind :)

This is the part readers don't see when they read your comic books. The work behind it :D It takes a little bit of madness to interpret the story in your head. And then some if you have to draw it :). Although it just feels so good to get those ideas out of your head and into paper. Phew!

So anyway here's some art announcements for you guys!

The new Welcome to the BPO will be ready for purchase during the next convention. Probably #Indieket2016 this August.

Also made some chibi art for my Anarchy Inc. characters :D Might sell them as stickers as well :D

Winding down from Summer Komikon 2016

You've got to keep plowing through...

Another Komikon come and past last 16th of April. Took me a week to recover from the haze and dizziness. :D

I had a great time. The con was condensed to one day this year. I think it was a better choice since hauling merchandise all weekend was killing me. :D Not to mention I had the arduous task of lugging around a mug heat press the whole time T_T. Errands...

Anywho, I was glad I was able to finish my first Anarchy Inc. comic book for public release. :) and I'm happy to say I managed to sell them all at the convention and then some. :D

It wasn't easy though. I was up all night before the con trying to staple the dozen copies I printed out. This was after a whole week of finishing the story and the art. I had to catch up since I wasted about a month and a half working for yet another company that had no idea what it was doing. Ugh.

But got through it. Yup. Broken and muddied, I got through it. And the moment people appreciated my work made it all worthwhile. So thanks again to the people who picked up my new book and the old ones as well.

Other great points from the con would be getting free comic books from a trivia contest and getting a picture with another of my favorite local artists: Pol Medina Jr.

Pol Medina Jr. is the creator of one of my favorite local comics: Pugad Baboy. (Pig's nest in English). It's about a town of rather chubby people living their typical Filipino lives. It's a great commentary about my country and it's issues as well as some epic stories mixed in. I wanted to buy another book from him at the con but then I realized I've read them all :)) I've been reading his work since I was 10 years old and here he is 17 years later. :D

Thanks Pol :)

One of my favorite issues because of Bardagul Kapote where Mang Dagul and Brosia become private investigators :D

Doing some reorganizing...

Cleaning up my blogs...

Hey everybody :D I was reading up on how to manage blogs and whatnot. So I've decided to organize my blog. I started this blog, Chuck the Cartoon Boy, as an art blog for my work. Also it helps to have my work online so I can cling on to this delusion that I can get paid for my work soon. :))

The good news is I'm making another blog dedicated to, yep you guessed it, GAMING. So check out my thoughts on games at mindyourgames.blogspot.com. Thanks to Extra Credits for making think more about my games and experiences.

Also moving my comic book reviews and thoughts to mindyourcomics.blogspot.com. I;m gonna have some words over the reactions on the Batman v Superman movie and on the movie itself once I watch it.

So that's about it. Hopefully you guys can keep watch over my new blogs as well. Also here's to me trying to finish making my new book before PH Komikon next week :D CHEERS!

SketchDump: 3/19/2016

Gonna get there one day...

Well, looks like I'm stuck at a BPO once again. Trying to get in as much creative work as I can. As much as I'd like to do my art for a living... there's stuff that needs to be paid off. Still trudging on with my comics and game ideas. Might try working on my animation skills soon but for now: Here's a sketch dump of my latest work:

(Another Jack Silhouette with Markers and Brush Inks.)
(Lola KwekKwek)
(Goblin Bomber.)
(Elric Von Kaboomboom)
(I see it now...)
